Printed catalogue helps Hampton Antiques to sell online
Hampton Antiques specialises in selling and restoring antique boxes and accessories. The business has been established since 1998 and it now sells at specialist antiques exhibitions and online. Hampton Antiques produces a 60-page catalogue annually to showcase some of its more unusual or significant pieces and to promote the company’s attendance at exhibitions.
Mark Goodger, one of the company’s owners, had previously had some bad experiences with printing the catalogue, including mistakes, errors and late deliveries. So the graphic designer (Mark’s brother) insisted he should contact Belmont Press.
Mark says: “The first time we used Belmont Press, the designer did all the liaison. When the catalogue arrived, it was on time and it looked fantastic!”
Mark has since had another catalogue printed by Belmont Press and he worked closely with Belmont Press Account Executive, Louise Smith. He was delighted with the whole experience of working with Belmont Press, saying:
“The communication throughout was fantastic. If Louise had any questions, she would just call or email me and nothing was a problem. She explained the different
processes to me and which was the best way to produce the catalogue. It arrived in plenty of time for the exhibitions and was faultless again.” Mark added: “We had two or three proof catalogues, which was really helpful so I could see what it was going to look like. It has been very well received by our customers and some of them are amazed by it! I use it to pre-sell items prior to going to exhibitions, so it’s important that it makes a good impression.”

Print Essentials Workshop
In addition, Mark attended one of our one-day Print Essentials workshops which provide an introduction into the whole printing process. He commented: “I didn’t know anything about print, and the workshop gave me an insight into a world that I’d never seen before. It was fantastic and made everything all make sense. I didn’t realise the scale of Belmont Press or the technical nature of print. It really helped me to understand both. Also, their Essential Guide to Print handbook is perfect and includes everything I need to know. I shall definitely be using it next time we produce the catalogue.”
