Prestigious print projects for London 2012
Belmont Press was an official printer to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralymic Games, printing a wide range of high quality publications. These included customer-facing materials such as ticketing guides, official spectator guides and ticket wallets as well as some more unusual items.
Belmont Press printed 90 different types of certificate for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. These included the certificates presented to the Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winners, whose names were overprinted at the venues. A range of different print and finishing techniques were used, including metallic inks, foil blocking and spot UV varnish.
Belmont Press also printed personalised certificates for the Gamesmakers and broadcasters working at the Games. These were produced using our high quality HP Indigo digital press.
Another unusual and prestigious printing project was creating the colour standards and brand manual for LOCOG (London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Ltd), which applied to all printed materials relating to the Games.
The ‘Publications Look Book’ was an A3 landscape book that contained every logo, pictogram and colour scheme used in the entire Games. It was one of the most striking publications produced by LOCOG, and was essential in order to maintain the high quality and consistency of all branded materials for the Games. It was a complex and labour-intensive project, as each page had colour swatches as part of the artwork.
Belmont Press produced a separate swatch book of the 15 ‘London 2012’ colours, printed on 12 different substrates (six litho printed and six digitally printed). These swatch books set the high standard that all other printers had to meet in order to ensure brand compliance.
Belmont Press also printed the colour standards for the Torch Relay brand colours.
