Creating PDFs

Belmont Press has developed a workflow which allows your artwork to be processed as quickly and efficiently as possible. We recommend the following guidelines for creating PDFs:

  1. Create single-page PDFs, rather than page spreads

    To streamline processing and avoid repetition, each page should be a separate entity.

  2. Create PDFs using the page layout application’s PDF export option where possible

    This is usually the safest way to create PDFs from your artwork. A notable exception is artwork output from QuarkXPress 6, which should be PostScripted and then Distilled using our Adobe PDF settings.

  3. Create an individual PDF file for each page

    When each page is supplied as a stand-alone object, pages can be swapped in and out of the final job with ease as last-minute amendments are made. This method of PDF production also integrates well with our online proofing/approval server.

  4. Use our supplied settings for creating PDFs from various applications

    Our PDF presets follow the previous recommendations and are available to download:
